What about a misty green ? I thought of that immediately when I read you like a country kitchen look. Soft green is very popular now, and would go well with your existing cream. Misty green is a shade which would not make your kitchen too dark, yet it gives a warm and cosy feel. Good luck !
References :
Done it myself + love it

If you are going for a country cottage theme, then a lighter shade of blue or yellow always works! It will brighten things up for sure. But you might want to switch out the black appliances for white ones, so everything flows.
References :
I would pick a light color...if you like that country cottage look perhaps a light yellow or light sky blue...even a light yellow/green (stay away from the minty green)

When you have those cream cabinets with the wood strip at the bottom (I know exactly which kinds you are talking about...lol) and matching cream counters, I'd tend not to pick a dark contrasting color because it will make your creams even more stark looking, they will be the first thing you notice when you walk into the room.

If I were doing it, I think it would be nice to use light yellows and light yellow/greens with the creams. Perhaps yellow for the wall and use the greens in an accents with accessories and curtains. It will seem very refreshing (think spring time fresh) You could even through in a bright pink/red here and there...very very sparingly...like I'm thinking in artwork or fresh flowers.

Hope that gives you some ideas!
References :
I'm a 4th year interior design student

Here's a terrific site to help you decide. My son told me about it--he used it to decide on colors for 3 whole rooms--ceiling, trim, and walls!
References :
How about a nice yellow? I always think yellow is a great kitcheny color because it brightens things up.
References :
Paint Colour for Kitchen with Cream Coloured Cabinets?
I'm trying to decide what paint color tuggeso paint my kitchen. Right now it is a cranberry colour, which I like, but I spayed cleaner on it and it took the colour right out of it. I have those cream coloured cabinets that have a wood strip at the bottom and cream coloured counter top (yuck) My appliances are white and black. The trim in my kitchen will be white. There are very few walls in my kitchen as there are three doorway's a sliding door and two windows. It is a bright kitchen. I'm looking for a good colour to paint. I really like the country cottage look. I just want to freshen it up, it's sooo outdated. I don't want to paint the cupboards, just the walls and perhaps add some different curtains, etc. any suggestions on paint colours? I am not very good with colours. I was thinking of toasted nutmeg or a greenish colour. Any thoughts? Your suggestions will be great. thanks.
What is a good yellow/green paint colour to use with cream cabinets and cabinets?
