it cleans away all the plaque and leaves your teeth feeling smoothe.

Yes, they can cover more surface in a more efficient way, including under the gum line. The speed and vibration of the bristles make it for a very efficient cleaning. Follow the directions that come with the product, because the technique is different from the manual brush.
References :
YES AN ELECTRIC BRUSH IS FASTER AND MORE COMPLETE THAN A MANUAL BRUSH. ITS BRISTLES REACH A DEEPER LEVEL THAN A MANUAL ONE ALONG THE GUM LINE.
References :
If you have the money to put down on a nice expensive electric toothbrush, I would say go for it! I personally like electric better; they give that dentist clean feeling!

If you can, I would recommend the one that has the timer that tells you when you have brushed for your two minute minimum. It also has different pulses and feels. I believe it is an Oral B and you can get it through your dentist. Dentists usually can sell them to you at their cost and recently this one has had a rebate with it. I had a friend who just purchased this one and loves it!

Happy brushing!
References :
Yes, they can brush a hundred strokes in a second, when you brush manually you'd be lucky to get to a 100 for your whole mouth. They are worth the money.
References :
i think since i used my oralb electric toothbrush, my dentist has been happy with my teeth. and he does his cleaning less frequent.

i like oral-b, because it has different brushes, esp for the more expensive models. and every minute you brush, it actually stops to let you know how long have you been brushing. i think there is an average of at least how long your should brush.

and it is just less going around with my eyes in my mouth - hard thing to do! esp when you're tired and ready for bed.
