1. Many individual dental plans do not cover orthodontia at all.
2. Dental Plans that do cover orthodontia usually have a cap of $750-$1250 for the entire procedure. Braces cost much more than that amount.
3. Finally you still have the premium to deal with and that can be too much for a 20 year old college student.

With Dental Insurance for College Students there are usually waiting periods. Many times, dental braces are not included in the coverage on dental insurance plans.

Have you spoken with a cosmetic dentist yet? they can usually recommend you a great insurance plan so that you can get started on your braces. Are you going for invisalign or metal braces? huge difference in price.

So basically you are saying that you want someone else to pay for something you want, but don’t feel you can afford. I would suggest re-evaluating the urgency of your need for braces, and in the meantime, aggressively search for ways to improve your income, and create a plan where you can save enough to pay for them with cash.

People in society today are all too often looking for something for nothing, wanting to find a way to get something on someone else’s dime, and your question is a prime example of this. Take personal responsibility for your desires, and earn the things you buy.

You might as well be saying, "I have a broken windshield, and want to find the best insurance coverage so I can get it replaced with as little of my own money as possible."

That is a lot of what is behind the economic crisis we are suffering today, the lack of people assuming personal responsibility for all things financial, the mindset that they can game the system. This is known as an entitlement mentality. Entitlement mentalities are unjustified perspectives where people think they deserve something they have not earned.

I wish you the best in paying for straightening your teeth, but why should someone else be responsible for payment? (They should not)
