I haven’t taken any care of my teeth for a long time. It’s bad, mostly in the back. Before I even think of a dentist, what can I do to fix or stop the damage?
.
You can’t fix what’s damaged on your own.Keep on brushing and flossing if you haven’t been already, and use a third of a cup of solution of half water/half peroxide weekly.

Many people could say "brush your teeth", and "use wax floss".
But nobody here can really judge the way your dental health is, because they never saw it. In my mind, there is no "Before I even think of a dentist", because that’s the only person who can tell you accurately what to do.

Many people do this, for the lack of money, time involved, pain and the fear of a dentist.
First the money. There is a program now in most areas, a dental card, most to all dentists now use them, we do. You get work done on a credit card basis used only for the dental work. Then make an appointment and a commitment, not only to yourself but, to the dentist. To go until he says your finished.
A nice smile, good breath and good eating habits will start a new life for you, believe me. Oh! and, if you can’t find a good dentist, ask your friends or someone you know to advise you whom to call.

Well it depends on the damage that is done. Some things are repairable and some are not.
If your teeth are rotting then you will have to have them extracted "removed"
If your gums are inflamed then the dentist will reccomend to floss and brush after every meal or atleast three times a day.
If your gums are receding then you will need to go to a periodontist.
It really depends!!
Overall I would reccomend that you brush and floss between each tooth upper and lower everyday
Flossing twice or three times a day and brushing after every meal or two to three times a day.
Heres a website that will teach you everything you will need to know about keeping your teeth healthy

If your teeth do not improve make an appointment with your dentist.
Good luck

You can’t fix the damage by yourself only a dentist can but for now you should brush, floss and rinse with mouthwash twice a day. Be conscious of the foods you eat and cut back on the high sugar foods for example, energy drinks and lollies. If you smoke try to quit and cut back on the coffee as it will stain your teeth.
-Hope I helped and good luck with the dentist!
