What is the best teeth whitening for sensitive teeth?
Posted by admin in Teeth Whitening on May 22, 2010
I’ve used Crest white strips but they kill my teeth. I would really like a fairly reasonable way to whiten my teeth since they are in desperate need of whitening. Any suggestions?
I smoked for quite a few years. After I quit, I wanted to whiten my teeth. My dentist told me to use this Teeth Whitening kit. It worked great and I appreciate not having to spend a fortune.

A Few Facts To Boost Your Teeth Whitening Knowledge
Posted by admin in Teeth Whitening on May 14, 2010
The concept of teeth whitening has immensely changed within the last ten years. Teeth whitening treatment includes two different methods one is dental or in-office whitening and the other is at the home treatment. In case, you are opting for dental teeth whitening, your dentist will make molds of the teeth and will send them off to a laboratory. You will receive your teeth whitening mouthpiece within 5-10 days. These teeth whitening molds are made of plastic and are filled with peroxide. Your dentist will then press the teeth whitening molds against your gums and teeth for 1-2 hours. It will take around 3-4 visits to complete your teeth whitening procedure.
One of the most widely-used teeth whitening in-office procedures is known as Laser Bleaching. It is a shorter process where concentrated peroxide gel is applied onto your teeth. You need to sit in a dental chair for an hour with your mouth wide open. A special light is shined onto your teeth whitening paste, which reacts chemically with the peroxide and completes the teeth whitening process in a short time.
These days, it is also possible to get quality teeth whitening at home. Generally, there are three different Teeth Whitening options available at home. This includes brush-on teeth whitening, using whitening strips, and trays with bleaching gels.
The following are some of the practices that will help you to obtain the best possible teeth whitening results:
- Brush you teeth for at least two minutes with any oxygenating toothpaste immediately before your teeth whitening procedure. It is better if your oxygenating toothpaste is combined with aloe vera and some natural polishing agents. This will prevent any kind of sensitivity as well as strengthen your gums.
- It is better to opt for form-fitting mouth trays, which are well fitted to your specific bite. Also ensure that the mouth trays fit snugly around each tooth. In addition, they need to press tightly around the sides of your gums and teeth at all points.
- Try to use a strong teeth whitening gel. You can opt for one that includes 21% concentrated carbamide peroxide. This is specifically formulated to lessen the sensitivity to your gums and teeth. Furthermore, it ensures a whiter result in a short period of time. These days, flavored teeth whitening gel are also available to make your experience as pleasant as possible.
Finally, use oxygenating oral rinse immediately after the teeth whitening treatment. This will enhance the effect of the treatment. It is better not to use mouthwash that includes alcohol as it can curtail the bleaching effect chemically.

Posted by admin in Teeth Whitening on May 8, 2010
Laser teeth’s whitening has become very popular, since so many people are looking to improve their smile. There are a variety of options available to help you achieve that bright white smile. Laser whitening can effectively help to reverse the discoloration process of your teeth.
Laser teeth whitening are a quick, painless solution for teeth that have become stained. . Laser teeth whitening are generally recommended for coffee drinkers and smokers, as well as those who have never used any other type of Teeth Whitening. In some instances, teeth can be whitened up to 10 shades lighter
Laser whitening must be done by a dental health professional. He or she will begin by removing any plaque or debris that is currently on your teeth. This helps to ensure the whitening will be effective.
After your teeth are free of plague and debris a gel is applied to your teeth. The gel is what actually whitens the teeth. However, the laser is used to speed up the process and activate the whitening gel. The crystals found in the gel absorb the light energy from the laser, which then penetrates the enamel on the teeth. This process helps to increase the whitening effect on the teeth.
Depending on the look you desire, you may need to be keep the gel on longer. If your teeth are fairly close to your desired color, then you will only need to be in the chair for a short period. Typically, it takes about an hour to accomplish a whiter smile.
One advantage of laser teeth whitening is that you only need one visit to see a visible difference in the color of you teeth. In some extreme cases, additional laser treatments may need to be done to achieve the desirable color you are looking for.
A major disadvantage of laser teeth whitening is the cost. Compared to other methods of teeth whitening, laser teeth whitening can be dramatically higher. Laser whitening generally begins around $1000. However, depending on the number of treatments needed, the cost could be considerable higher.
Another disadvantage that is sometimes associated with laser whitening is sore teeth and gums. This is because of the bleach used to whiten the teeth. Generally speaking, this is only a short-term problem.

There are the widely advertised ZOOM and Britesmile and others. What is the average cost for each and which do you recommend?
Cosmetic dentistry varies from place to place. In the city you can probably expect to pay more. However, most resources quote that you could pay anywhere between $200-900 for the procedure. I would get references from other patients before you use the treatment, so you can find out how competent the doctor is. I would only spend as much as you feel comfortable, so if it is too expensive, I would try at home treatments.
