If so, what are they called?

I’ve heard they do make them, but can’t find them anywhere.

No, they are not interchangeable. since these are competing companies, they are not going to make products that are interchangeable with each other.

how important is oral care for a toddler?

my son is 18 months and wont let me brush his teeth i dont let him go to bed with a bottle often…. only when we both pass out from a long night of no sleep, but thats not often only when hes getting sick. but im worried that all his teeth will be screwed up because i dont/cant brush them! i dont want to ruin his teeth! how bad is it…. he is getting a little better now that he wants to brush his own teeth but wont let me do a good job. how bad is it? will his teeth ruined?!?!?!?

You son’s baby teeth are going to fall out anyway; it is really not that big of a deal. In the spirit of teaching good hygiene, I would suggest purchasing a musical toothbrush. Tell him if he wants to brush him himself, he must let you brush them first, then he can have the brush.

Oral Cancer: Causes, Symptoms and Treatments

Oral cancer is generally described as cancer of head and neck. It can affect any part of the mouth like tongue, cheeks, lips, hard palate, soft palate, floor of the tongue, internal lining of the cheeks, gums, lymph nodes etc. the most common form of oral cancer is squamous cell carcinoma which affects the flat skin like lining of the mouth. 90% mouth cancer patients have been detected with this form of mouth cancer.

There are other types of oral cancers affecting different areas of the mouth like the salivary gland cancer affecting the saliva producing gland, lymphoma which is caused in lymph around the tonsils and base of tongue and melanoma affecting the skin pigmentation cells around the mouth and lips.

Causes:

The causes of skin cancer are many and can’t be restricted to anything in particular. Few major causes of oral tumor are smoking (cigarettes, pipe, hand rololed cigarettes like bidis or the one containing canabis) , alcohol, chewing of tobacco, beetlenut, gutka or pan, UV rays from sun which affects lips or pale skin and at times previous cancer which might reoccur. Other probable causes are poor dietary habits lacking essentially zinc, vitamin A, C, E, selenium .infection from HPV (human papilloma virus) which generally infects vulva, vagina and cervix.

Symptom:

The symptoms for oral cancer are very general which might sometimes turn out to be some other disease but nevertheless it is better to go to a dentist or a general physician or ENT specialist to rule out any possibility. The few visible symptoms are: white or red patch on the lips, inside of the mouth or around mouth which has been there for long , loose teeth, bleeding from mouth, soreness of lips and tongue, swelling in mouth, swelling in throat, ulcer of mouth and lips, a lump or thickening of lips mouth or tongue.

Treatment:

After mouth cancer has been established using X- Rays, MRI scan, endoscopy, CT scan and biopsy confirms the multiplicity of cells then the medical practioner suggests treatment based on the physical stat and age of the patient, extent of infection and location of infection. Radiotherapy is commonly used method where radiation is used to destroy the cancerous cell in the affected area. At times surgery is performed to insert radioactive pellets in or around the tumor which gradually destroys the infected cells.

Surgery is another method used to remove the tumor from the infected area. It may be performed before or after radiotherapy. Chemotherapy is another treatment used for destroying cancerous cells. Anti cancerous drugs are used to shrink the tumor and later on surgery is performed to remove the infection. Time period of treatment and the strength of the medicine are dependent on the extent of infection.

Oral cancer is very common and can be avoided by taking care of ones lifestyle. Excessive intake of alcohol and cigarettes etc should be avoided. Chewing of tobacco should be strictly avoided and nutritious food should be incorporated in daily diet. After all health is wealth.

Oral Care, Gum Rating?

i was at the dentist a couple weeks ago, and the assistant who cleaned my teeth said i was rated 3 in the front of my mouth and 4 in the back of my mouth for gum disease and gingervitis.

is there a rating chart out of 5 or out of 10 that is used when checking your gums for healthiness? i wish i would’ve thought to ask her if my score was out of 5 or 10.

A google search will give you more detail, but basically, the number is the millimeter depth of your gums. A 1 indicates 1mm of depth witch is ideal. 2 to 3mm is iffy, and 4 to 5 indicates a lot of gum depth and potential gum disease.

Lower numbers in front is typical because your back teeth do more powerful compression. But, good oral hygiene will prevent pockets from getting too deep. Floss daily and brush often.

Do oral care gels and sprays to remove plaque and tartar from a cat’s teeth work or are they harmful?

unless you are referring to C.E.T. brand from a vet, than you are wasting your money. Also Invest in a toothbrush for babies or a cat toothbrush.

Also, most of the treats for "clean teeth" like Greenies are a hoax, it is like you eating a candy and saying it cleans your teeth.

Question about oral care?

My wife always tells me that most women only give oralll sexx to their guys until they are married, then it all bust stops. She claims most women do it, but do not really enjoy doing it and usually will just do it until the guy is fully theirs. I argue, that I know many women truly enjoy doing this, for real. So ladies, do any of you actually enjoy this fine art, or do you simply do it to please your guy, but could do without it? Or do you despise it all together? She almost has my conviced that all women dislike it, but simply tolerate it. Which is it?

For several years, I only did it to get in return. I really didn’t like going down on a guy. Then one day I actually paid attention to the guys reactions. It was such a turn on to see how I could make him lose control. I have cultivated my talent and really enjoy it now. What a power trip it is to drive a man crazy!

For a health care proffesional: What is the risk of HIV transmission on oral sex?

When a neg guy gives oral sex to a pos girl? or vice versa?
When a neg girl gives oral sex to a pos guy? or vice versa?

You can contract the HIV virus through oral sex if that person is positive and if they have cuts and abrasions and giving off discharge or the negative person has abrasions and cuts in their mouth. Not a good idea for those who have braces or metal appliances in their mouths that can cut skin. If you know the person’s status then it’s up to you to use sound judgement on whether sex with them is appropriate.

Oral Sex and Herpes Infection is No Simple Feat

Not quite the topic any one wishes to chat about, except to the doctor. Yes doc, I do have oral sex and herpes infection at the same time! And you think to yourself had I stuck only to oral sex, and by that way meant talking about it only, you might never have gotten the herpes infection in the first place.

Lack of knowledge is the problem here. Seriously, and having oral sex and herpes infection at the same time would not be a laughing matter in anyone’s opinion, let alone the person on the receiving side.

To be a participant of oral sex and herpes infection you would need to probably be so high on drugs that you didn’t care who gave you what, as long as you got your rocks off.

The Herpes Infection Alone Could Be One Of Many

Herpes B Simplex is the typical mouth sore, which comes back continually. Maybe you have it reoccurring due to too much oral sex. You should have thought about that. Besides the fact that having oral sex and herpes infection could be unhygienic in the first place, it could actually worsen the problem.

Who in their right minds would want oral sex and herpes infection at the same time so close to each other. Consider if you are that desperate that you just had to have it, or were you so stupid to give oral sex in the first place with it? Surely there are other health hazards attached to that! †What if the person had some other contagious STD and it came into contact with your wet and open herpes simplex?

Wouldn’t that be an issue for you? Have scruples or inclination about protection as this might be all that stand between you and a STD. Has your hormones taken over your brain cells, that you could not distinguish that oral sex and herpes infection does not go together?

You should have known these facts that oral sex and herpes infection need some time apart to heal and clear up. You simply cannot go on as if there is nothing wrong with you. To heal herpes you would need to keep the areas infected clean and germ free, and use a ointment at least 3 times a day to treat it, so it can heal faster. The more you keep it moist without the ointment, the longer it would take to heal. Sis man, get health conscious for a change!
