What are the benefits of xylitol in dental health, and why?

I have started chewing xylitol gum. Sugar free gum seems to remove food particles from between my teeth. Xylitol is supposed to be even more beneficial in starving bacteria of food. Why?

Xylitol is a sugar derivative that’s not processable by bacteria for food; this means the bacteria aren’t given a food source when chewing the gum; it would be better if we were chewing wax or something like that, but since people like sweet things Xylitol is sweet but doesn’t, as far sas is known, contribute to decay.

What is the best teeth whitening system?

what would be the best Teeth Whitening system strip brand to use? Target or Walmart brand, which is about $15.0 or Rembrandt or Crest Classic which is $20.00. what have you used and what do you recommended? im thinking Crest Classic. is that good or are the store brands just as good?

Just brush reguarly. Anything else will make your teeth really sensitive and won’t be able to eat anything at an extreme temperature. (ie coffee, ice cream)

Does anyone use both Oral B & Sonicare electric toothbrushes together?

I was just wondering, I have an Oral B Triumph and a Sonicare Elite and I really can’t decide which is best for my teeth. The Oral B seems to whiten better, but seems to be causing some gum recession. The Sonicare is gentler on my gums, but doesn’t whiten as well. Would it be okay to use both? Say, the Sonicare every day and then the Oral B once a week for polishing? Does anyone use both? Thank you in advance for your help.

I use Oral B. However if you are using it and it is causing your gum problem you should inform your dentist about the you have problem with your gums using this tooth brush. Oral B should not hurt you gums but only make them stronger. And you brushing you gums when you wash you teeth you SHOULD ME to make you gums stronger

I have dental insurance, but I need root canal done, so do I get a supplemental dental plan?

Several supplemental dental plans available, interestingly, some supplemental Dental Plans are from my dental insurance company. Can I get supplemental plan from the same insurance company?

You can easily check your minimal health care rates in internet, for example here – healthquotes.awardspace.info

What is the best discount dental insurance available?

I recently found out I have to get a root canal and I don’t have any Dental Insurance – I need help!

Dental discount plans are not usually worth the cost. Finding a dentist who will accept a fraction of regular fees if they are able to fill appointments will full-fee patients might be difficult. In fact, many people have found that NO dentists in their area (at least, not dentists they would WANT to visit) accept the discount plan.

The State of Montana sued one of the main plans, Ameriplan, for insurance fraud and won. Please investigate carefully before giving personal information to internet-based plans.

Ask your dentist about financing plans through such companies as Care Credit or Dental Fee Plan. You’d be much safer!

If we are to believe the dental community, that has told us for eons that good dental health?

is the foundation to better health, then why isn’t there dental care provided for in health care reform. Lets face it, poor Dental Health leads to poor digestion, which leads to many health problems. So as a part of the preventative medicine section of the health care bill, I propose that dental care for ALL AMERICANS be provided!!!!!
Do you agree?
WoW, the government could have the market in grills, automotive and dental!!!!

Nice perception! I do agree.

What are the types of teeth whitening and how are they different?

I have heard about laser Teeth Whitening and zoom whitening. I think that there may be some more other types. How are they different and which one is the best?

DO NOT TRY LASER. TRY THIS. THIS METHOD IS SAFE.

Step 1
Brush and floss regularly to reduce or prevent stains.
Step 2
Try whitening toothpastes. Though heavily advertised, these only partially whiten teeth and don’t provide a complete remedy. Make sure the toothpaste has the American Dental Association (ADA) seal of approval and has been clinically proved to whiten teeth effectively. Very few whitening toothpastes have undergone any type of clinical trial, and ones that are too abrasive can damage teeth or make them very sensitive.
Step 3
Get regular dental cleanings, which remove many food and tobacco stains. No amount of cleaning will remove the severe staining left by tetracycline or systemic disease because these pigments lie inside the tooth; you’ll have to take more aggressive measures against these.
Step 4
Consider the two options, in-office and at-home treatments, for bleaching your teeth. A dentist performs in-office treatments by coating the teeth with a bleaching agent, then using periodic flashes of light to activate the solution. Treatments last 30 to 60 minutes, and the complete procedure often requires several appointments. In at-home treatments, patients wear a mouth guard fitted with bleaching gel 2 hours a day for two weeks, depending on the severity of staining.
Step 5
Think about getting veneers, which are custom-made shells bonded to the teeth with resins. This procedure often requires removing a small amount of tooth structure and is the most invasive, as well as the most expensive, treatment option.

You can also use BAKING SODA

No bleaching method can permanently whiten teeth, and all require repeated treatments, especially if the factor that caused staining still exists.

All of the bleaching mechanisms described here can cause tooth sensitivity, usually temporary (lasting up to several weeks).

Never try to remove or scrape off stains with your fingernails or other sharp objects.

The ADA and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration discourage use of over-the-counter bleaching kits, which can damage your gums.
